Rodney Eugene Hughes

Rodney Eugene Hughes, 55, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Candler Hospital with his family by his side. He was a native of Hahira, GA and was a resident of Savannah all of his life. He attended South Newington Baptist Church. He was a self-employed painter and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Terri W. Hughes, of Savannah, his mother and step-father, Barbara and Terry Barry, of Bluffton, South Carolina, his father and step-mother, Bobby and Carolyn Hughes, of Jesup, two brothers, Donald Hughes, of Midway, and Fred Hughes, of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and his sister, Terri French, of Riceboro. He is also survived by a step-brother, Terry Barry, Jr., and step-sister, Amanda Bolton, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Bonaventure Cemetery with the Reverend Steve McCoy officiating.

My heart was broken when I learned that Rodney had passed. my heart just sank this afternoon when i heard of my old friend rodney passing. the memories of him his brothers donnie and fred sister terri and his dad and mom Mr.& Mrs. Hughes i will never forget.Rodney was a wonderful guy and fun to be around. growing up in Bloomingdale around the hugheses was a very special time, from all those frisbee games on the dirt road rodney would get us to play and the long hikes, to pick up soft ball games and building forts, ill never forget him,he brought alot of joy and happiness to my life and to the life of others. me and my sister patricia always loved gowing over to rodneys house because Mr.& Mrs Hughes Always made us feel welcome and part of the family. i know your pain we lost our brother david last year christmas eve morning. may GOD strengthen you as he has us. love in christ wayne archer.
